We Were Promised Jetpacks Soars In Fall
Unravelling arrives Oct. 6 in the U.K. and Oct. 14 in the U.S. The band recently premiered a live video for the track “Night Terror,” from the new album, filmed during the band’s Audio Tree session in Chicago. While we have the video embedded below, you can watch the complete session clocking at just under 28 minutes, here.
We Were Promised Jetpacks recorded Unravelling with Paul Savage. If that name rings a bell, that’s probably because you’ve seen it in the credits on albums by Teenage Fanclub, King Creosote, The Twilight Sad, Franz Ferdinand and Mogwai.
“It was a fairly straightforward decision to work with Paul,” WWPJ lead singer Adam Thompson said. “He has done plenty of brilliant work and we had worked with him for a few days before recording our first album and always remembered enjoying recording with him. I’m really chuffed with that decision. I think Paul has done a great job and it’s the first time we’ve been present to mix the album with the same person who has recorded it, which has been an enjoyable and much more relaxing experience for us.”
Unravelling is available for preorder via the FatCat Online Store.
The band’s name dates back to those glorious days in the 1950s when anything seemed possible and people were predicting that “the future” would include flying cars, vacations on the moon and, of course, jet packs. But it might be a better world without portable rockets strapped to our backs, as this clip from Steven Spielberg’s 2002 film, “Minority Report,” suggests.
