Jetstar Apologizes Over Drugs Comment
Jetstar Airways apologized for a flight attendant’s comment on a July 27 flight from Australia’s Gold Coast.
As the flight approached Sydney an announcement was made to passengers, many returning from the Splendour In The Grass festival, to flush “anything you shouldn’t have” down the toilet as sniffer dogs and quarantine officers were on duty at the airport.
Jetstar said airlines are required to make quarantine announcements, but the words were “poorly chosen and plainly at odds with the professional standards we’d expect from our team.” About 25,000 attended the three-day festival, where 270 were arrested for drug offenses.
