ZZ Top Delays Tour Kickoff

That little ol’ band from Texas has pushed back the beginning of its summer tour.  Blame it on kidney stones.

Two kidney stones, to be exact.  The double dose of crystal aggregation also known as renal calculus has put Dusty Hill under the surgeon’ s blade this week.  While the bearded bassist is expected to make a full recovery, the ailment means ZZ Top won’t return to the road until Aug. 6 when the band plays South Dakota’s Sturgis Buffalo Chip.  ZZ Top begins its tour with Jeff Beck Aug. 8 in Missoula, Mont.

Meanwhile, that sound you’ve been hearing for the past 24 hours is the muffled weeping of thousands of ZZ Top fans who were counting on seeing their favorite band this week.  Shows no longer happening include the July 25 opener in Morton, Minn., as well as the Washington County Fair in West Bend, Wis., July 26; Cincinnati, Ohio, July 27; Louisville, Ky., July 29; Asheville, N.C., July 30 and the Music Fest in Bethlehem, Pa., Aug. 1.
