Bono’s Daughter Eve Hewson Simplifies Billing
Just ask Eve Hewson, the 23-year-old daughter of U2 lead singer Bono. She simplified things during her school years instead of using her given name: Memphis Eve Sunny Day Hewson.
“My parents knew I’d get bullied, so I just went with Eve,” she said Thursday at the summer TV critics’ tour.
Bono’s real name is Paul Hewson.
The younger Hewson has followed her father into show business as a fledgling actress, not a musician.
“He tried to teach me all about the musicality of a line, but that’s not a good way to go about your acting,” she said. “He has helped me in other ways, but not really as an acting coach. I call him and ask him about scripts and directors.”
Hewson co-stars with Clive Owen in director Steven Soderbergh’s new drama “The Knick,” debuting Aug. 8 on Cinemax. Set in New York in 1900, the series centers on the surgeons, nurses and staff at groundbreaking Knickerbocker Hospital.
Hewson graduated from New York University a year ago. Her credits include the movies “Enough Said” and “This Must Be the Place.”
