Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood Hit The Road
Juice, due out Sept. 16 via Indirecto Records, is the first new studio album from Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood since 2006’s Out Louder. Before that the guys worked together on 1998’s A Go Go, which was released under Scofield’s name. In 2011 MSMW put out the live album In Case The World Changes Its Mind.
The 10-track Juice features six original compositions along with MSMW’s take on jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris’ “Sham Time,” Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Mind,” The Doors’ “Light My Fire” and Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’.”
“We love the unexplainable magic that comes from our collaboration with John Scofield on every level, from the hang to the playing,” John Medeski says. “This is a band with a personality and dynamics all its own that we feel we’ve captured like never before on this latest album. And it will only continue to evolve over these shows this winter.”
Scofield adds, “Reacting to each other is really what it’s about. That’s what makes this music work. We’ve gotten to the point where we can come together and make something that is identifiable and organic, yet it’s growing and changing all the time.”
