Mötley Crüe’s Fourth Of July Plans
The “Summerfest” show, which is hosting veterans from the Marine Corps recruiting station in Milwaukee, takes place at the Marcus Amphitheatre. Special guest Alice Cooper will also perform.
Friday’s show marks the second stop on Mötley Crüe’s “The Final Tour.” The trek kicked off Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Van Andel Arena is making a donation in the band’s name to The Wounded Warrior Project to thank the act for opening the tour at the venue.
The Wounded Warrior Project helps servicemen and women injured on or after Sept. 11, 2001 through 18 programs and services, including giving out more than 5 million dollars in grants in the form of college scholarship.
Next week Mötley Crüe will receive the 2014 Commendation Award from the Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) in recognition of the band’s support of the military community. The award will be presented at Mötley’s July 9 show in Maryland Heights, Mo., at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater St. Louis.
In addition to hosting private concerts for veterans, the rockers have donated considerable funds to charities that assist returning service members in finding employment and provide emergency financial assistance to families of service members and wounded troops.
