Rumble Over Riot Fest
The Denver Post reports that a large crowd turned out to complain about the planned three-day music fest featuring The Cure, Rise Against, Primus, and The Flaming Lips.
Arapahoe County officials are said to be mulling over whether to allow the event to take place as planned Sept. 19-21.
Riot Fest took place for the first time in Colorado last year at May Farms near Byers.
It drew an estimated 15,000 ticketholders a day.
The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners was hearing concerns about the festival July 2 but did not plan to make an immediate decision.
Members of the public spoke both for and against the festival.
“I don’t want the traffic and the noise and the nasty things that are sold there,” resident Charles Avery told the board, according to the Post.
“I don’t see anything wrong with me or people like me,” previous Riot Fest attendee Cari Olson reportedly said. Riot Fest organizer Max Wagner said the festival tries to be a good neighbor.
More than 17,000 tickets a day are expected to be sold at the year’s Riot Fest.
