Industry Noize: Foxwoods Loses MGM

MGM is removing its name from a casino tower at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

The MGM Grand Tower was named in 2006 as MGM looked to increase its brand recognition on the East Coast. It opened in 2008 at a cost of $700 million.

MGM Resorts International ended its licensing agreement with casino owners Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation because it wants to build its own casino in Springfield, Mass., and does not want to confuse consumers.
