Industry Noize: Orchestrating Perth Concert Hall Management
In the wake of a decision by the West Australian Government to take over management of Perth Concert Hall from AEG Ogden after 16 years, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra signaled it wants to manage the venue itself.
Starting next year, the Concert Hall will be run by the state-controlled Perth Theatre Trust. But orchestra chief executive Craig Whitehead told The Australian that as the hall’s biggest user, his staff could operate the venue cheaper.
But he complained the Government is refusing access to financial specifics of Ogden’s contractual arrangements.
“They’ve talked about a fair and equitable process but we’re locked out of the process,” he said.
