Kaskade’s Spark Run
In a post on his Tumblr page Kaskade notes that that the family-friendly events are open to everyone, runners and non-runners alike.
“The Spark Run is what in the past people have called a ‘fun run.’ But we’ve updated this business. We are here to celebrate originality. This run encourages costumes, glowsticks + LED’s. You don’t have to be a runner to enjoy this. Register, show up early, take part in the activities, then walk the 5K with a bunch of friends. … And if you are a runner? Get in there! Running at night, on a course like we’re creating is incredibly satisfying.”
The 5K is topped off by performances after the finish line.
The Spark Run fun begins May 9 near Denver in Commerce City, Colo., at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
“I’m going to be right there to make sure The Spark Run kicks off dripping in style. … I will be running the 5K, and will also be performing,” Kaskade said. “We will have the sound loud and lights lit. You will know you’re at the finish line, friend.”
The next stop is June 7 near Los Angeles at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. Specific dates and venues have not been announced yet for the rest of the Spark Run events, which are planned in Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Charlotte, N.C.; and Miami. With the exception of the Denver-area show, artists have not yet been announced.
But you might see Kaskade at another Spark Run because he says he plans on “attending as many of the runs as I can.”
Registration is open now for the Denver and Los Angeles-area shows, priced at $50 for individual runners/walkers and $45 for members of a team (of four or more). Kids age 8 and under are free. Prices for registration will increase for the Denver edition after April 30. The Los Angeles stop’s prices go up after May 9.
