Tame Impala Plots 2020 North American Run

Arenas around North America are getting a bit more tame in 2020, as Tame Impala has announced a full headline tour over several months. The new headline dates feature support from special guest Perfume Genius.

The routing begins at Chicago’s United Center May 29. The last arena on the tour is currently Rogers Arena in Vancouver Aug. 5, and there is also an amphitheater play at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash., Aug. 7. 

American Express cardholders get access to a presale Dec. 11, and the general public can purchase tickets starting Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. local time. The new routing is below.

Tame impala has a handful of North American dates earlier in the year, including a two-night stand at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., March 10-11. They also play at Foro Sol in Mexico City March 19 and Pal Norte in Monterrey, Mexico, March 21. The group is also playing All Points East festival in London May 23.

Business is very much booming for Tame Impala, which reported a gross of more than $1.3 million for two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York Aug. 21-22. 

Tame Impala moved over to CAA earlier this year when the group’s agent, Kevin French, made the switch from Paradigm. 

French, who also represents The National, Sharon Van Etten and The Decemberists, spoke to Pollstar in January about getting a coveted headlining spot at Coachella for Tame Impala and the journey the Aussie band has taken to get to its current position, “Over the summer, I began discussing Coachella with Paul (Tollett), and entertaining the idea to play 2019. He really believes in Tame, and we both agreed with new music on the horizon, they were ready to headline.”

“Expect new music, and what I’m sure will be another exciting album campaign. I for one am definitely excited to see and hear what Tame comes up with next!”

Speaking of new music, the group just released “Posthumous Forgiveness” on Dec. 3, as the hype builds for the group’s next album.
