MJR Brings Snoop Dogg And Soul II Soul To The UK in 2020

Soul II Soul are taking their “Club Classics” tour back on the road, while Snoop Dogg will visit six U.K. cities with his “I Wanna Thank Me” tour in 2020.

Following the success of their shows in 2018, British R&B icons Soul II Soul will return to the road with “Club Classics” in October and November next year, paying tribute to their 1989 debut album, Club Classics Vol 1.

The album reached the top spot in the U.K., and entered the Top 20 in the U.S.. It contains the hit singles “Keep on Movin” and “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)”.

15 dates in total will take Soul II Soul across the U.K., starting at the O2 Institute Birmingham (Oct. 9, 2020) and closing at the Royal Albert Hall in London (Nov. 24, 2020), “featuring a stunning production,” according to the announcement by promoter MJR Group.

“Who would have thought that after thirty-odd years later we’d still be on the road with this thing? It’s been a helluva journey – literally! – and I feel truly blessed,” commented Jazzie B, founding member of Soul II Soul.

“Now, I’m looking forward to going back to some of the familiar venues where we’ve made a lot of friends, I’m just as pumped about testing out places we’ve never been before but I’m seriously excited about playing the Royal Albert Hall.

“I want to thank to the fullness everybody who’s given their support up until now, and I’ll see you along the way – a happy face, a thumpin’ bass for a lovin’ race,” he continued.

During the course of their career Soul II Soul sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Jazzie B was awarded an OBE for services to music in 2008, and won an Ivor Novello Award for Inspiration, as “the man who gave British black music a soul of its own.”

All “Club Classics” U.K. tour dates in 2020: O2 Institute, Birmingham (Oct. 9), Bonus Arena, Hull (Oct. 10), Open, Norwich (Oct. 16), Barrowlands, Glasgow (Oct. 17), Olympia, Liverpool (Oct. 23), 02 Academy, Newcastle (Oct. 24), Rock City, Nottingham (Oct. 30), Barbican, York (Oct. 31), O2 Academy, Bristol (Nov. 6), Pyramids, Portsmouth (Nov. 7), Tramshed, Cardiff (Nov. 13), Brighton Dome (Nov. 14), Corn Exchange, Cambridge (Nov. 20), Manchester Academy (Nov. 21) and the Royal Albert Hall, London (Nov. 24)

MJR Group also announced the U.K. and Ireland leg of Snoop Dogg’s “I Wanna Thank Me” tour, which kicks off at 3 Arena in the Irish capital of Dublin (April 9), and comes to an end at Arena Birmingham (April 16).

In-between, the tour will visit the SSE Arena, Belfast, in Northern Ireland (April 10), before travelling to England’s Manchester Arena (April 12), First Direct Arena, Leeds (April 14), O2 London (April 15) and Arena Birmingham (April 16), which may have found a naming-rights sponsor by then.

The “I Wanna Thank Me” tour is named after Snoop Dogg’s 17th album, released earlier this year and celebrating his 25-year career in music, film and business.

The “Doggfather” is currently touring the States, scheduled to play Sweetwater Music in Mill Valley, CA, Oct. 11, followed by the Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland, CA, Oct. 12. The U.S. leg of “I Wann Thank Me” closes Jan. 19, 2020, at the Fillmore Silver Spring in Maryland.

On the U.K. and Ireland legs of the tour, Snoop is joined by key collaborators from his music career, including Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound, Obie Trice and D12. They will also be joined by the Irish rap duo Versatile.
