Mumford & Sons’ new destination event debuts in Mexico this February.

Mumford & Sons became the latest act Thursday to announce a destination Mexican event.

From February 27-29, 2020, the folk revivalists will stage the inaugural “Agora Del Mar” at Cancun’s Moon Palace resort, topping a bill that also includes Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Jenny Lewis, Phoebe Bridgers, Dermot Kennedy, The Tallest Man on Earth, Gill Landry and Kevin Garrett.

“We have not spent enough time in Mexico and we want to make up for it,” the band said in a statement. “So, in February 2020, we are curating an event will all our favorite bands in Cancun. We will play two unique sets over the three-day event and there will no doubt be the usual collaborations with the artists we are so excited to share the weekend with. It’s no ordinary gig so come and find us down by the Caribbean Sea if you can.”

The announcement comes on the heels of Mumford & Sons’ fourth album, Delta, released last November, and the ensuing arena tour, which placed No. 13 on Pollstar‘s Top 100 Worldwide Tours midyear chart with a gross of $44.5 million. Box office highlights from the tour include two-night December stands at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, which grossed $2.55 million and $2.64 million, respectively.

“Agora Del Mar” also represents the continued expansion of CID Presents’ destination festival portfolio, which once again will stage events south of the border for Dead & Company, Luke Bryan, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Phish and Bassnectar early next year.

“We’re honored to be partnering with Mumford & Sons on this special new show,” CID Presents CEO Dan Berkowitz said in a statement. “It’s genuinely inspiring to know that together, we are going to create a unique experience for some of their most passionate fans. They sincerely care about their fans, the communities in which they play, and our environment, and because of this, we do not take the responsibility of partnering with them lightly. It is our duty to uphold their high standards for a proper experience for their fans and the beautiful community of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.”

Earlier this year, Pollstar connected with Berkowitz to discuss CID Presents and the boutique festival sphere generally.

“I can’t see the future,” Berkowitz said. “I know that there’s megafestivals that people enjoy and there’s artist-curated boutique festivals that people enjoy. I’m hopeful that the boutique festivals keep rising, and I’m hopeful that the concept of destination events keeps getting more and more popular, as it seems to be.”

Tickets for “Agora Del Mar” go on sale Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. ET. A presale launches 24 hours prior.
