Quebec’s largest annual music festival is still going strong, as Festival d’été de Quebec has unveiled a colossal lineup for 2019, featuring a plethora of genres and styles.
The 52nd edition of the festival will run in Quebec City over the course of 11 days, from July 4-14. The lineup features feature Mariah Carey, Twenty One Pilots, Slipknot, Imagine Dragons, Logic, Slipknot, alt-J, Blink-182, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kygo / Diplo.
Tickets go on sale April 4 and passes which get you the festival’s 250 shows costs $105.
Other artists include Rodrigo Y Gabriella, Taking Back Sunday, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, Courtney Barnett, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Killswitch Engage, The Strumbellas, Buddy Guy, Live, Daniel Caesar, A Day To Remember, Lil Pump, and The Offspring.
Pollstar was on site at last year’s Festival d’été de Quebec and sat down with program director Louis Bellavance about the festival’s long history.
On the increasingly fast trajectory of young artists to super stardom, Bellavance said: “It’s easy to produce music now, and if you’re making good music, people will notice. And if they notice, they will over-consume it for a short while, and then move on to the next. And that next buzz might be another record by yourself, or the guy next door that also has talent.
“That said, this is producing headliners. We have Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, The Chainsmokers. We had Future last night. Even The Weeknd, those guys weren’t around five years ago. Can’t say they will [be] in five years, I sure hope they will, but who knows.”
