Chuck La Vallee Dies Of Cancer At 56; StubHub Exec Was Also Former Agent, Manager, Nightclub Owner
Chuck La Vallee, the head of business development at StubHub but a longtime figure in the music industry, died March 22 at 56 after a long battle with liver cancer.
He’d worked on and off for William Morris Agency during the 1990s and aughts, as an agent in the contemporary music division and contemporary urban music department, and spent two years at Metropolitan Entertainment.
La Vallee was also an owner, talent buyer and operator of L.A.’s Dragonfly Nightclub, and managed artists through his own shop, Chuck La Vallee Management, before joining StubHub in 2006.
There he focused his efforts on bringing the music industry together with StubHub through partnership agreements, particularly integrating elements of the live concert business into the secondary ticket market. He brought The Rowdy Frynds co-billed tour of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr., among others, to the StubHub platform.
He valiantly fought an aggressive form of liver cancer for more than five years, according to family members, and had been under home hospice care at the time of his death. A GoFundMe account has been established for covering medical expenses as well as helping support La Vallee’s wife, Dana Dickie, and son, Dash.
A memorial service is expected to take place shortly at Hollywood Forever cemetery, though a date and time has not been announced.
