Phish Announces Summer 2019 Tour

The revered jam band’s summer outing kicks off with two nights at St. Louis’ Chaifetz Arena on June 11 and 12 and concludes with a three-night stand from August 30 to September 1 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, located in Denver suburb Commerce City.

Along the way, they’ll hit Bonnaroo for shows on June 14 and 16 and play multiple nights at several venues, including two nights at Columbia, Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion (June 22 and 23) and three nights East Troy, Wisconsin’s Alpine Valley Music Theatre (July 12 to 14).

Many of the tour’s stops are familiar territory for the band — and some they hit as recently as last year. Across two August 2018 nights at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Phish sold 37,764 tickets for a gross of $2.07 million; across three Labor Day weekend shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the band sold 70,255 tickets for a gross of $5.34 million.

Phish even expanded their presence in one market: After selling 35,064 tickets for a gross of $1.71 million across two nights at BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey last August, the band will play three dates there from June 28 to 30.

Other bookings take the band back to old stomping grounds, like a June 18 gig at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage and June 25 and 26 gigs at Bangor, Maine’s Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion; Phish last played those venues in 2013, grossing $546,597 and $840,455, respectively.

Most notably, Phish will end a decade-long Boston drought with two nights at Fenway Park — their first shows in the city since a May 31, 2009 gig at the Red Sox stadium that sold 34,906 tickets for a gross of $1.71 million.

Fascinatingly, Phish’s summer tour announcement didn’t include West Coast dates. The region has been historically lucrative for them: A combined eight summer 2018 shows at George, Washington’s Gorge Amphitheatre; San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium; and Inglewood, California’s Forum netted the group $6.14 million.

All told, after nearly four decades Phish remain a powerful live draw, grossing $67.3 million over 2017 and 2018. That includes an unprecedented 13-night Madison Square Garden residency from July 21 to August 6, 2017 that sold 227,385 tickets for a gross of $15.04 million.

Some Phish members also plan to strike out on their own this spring, with Mike Gordon hitting the road and Trey Anastasio debuting his new band Ghosts of the Forest with a series of April theater gigs.
