Blackberry Smoke Announces First-Ever Acoustic Tour

Country-rock band Blackberry Smoke announced its first-ever acoustic tour on Monday. The Break It Down Tour kicks off March 14 and 15 with two shows at the Opera House in Lexington, Kentucky, and concludes April 6 and 7 with two shows at New York’s City Winery.
The itinerary also includes stops in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The Break It Down Tour follows the group’s recent acoustic EP, The Southern Ground Sessions, which was released in October and features stripped-down versions of five Blackberry Smoke cuts as well as a Tom Petty cover featuring Amanda Shires. The band released their sixth album, Find A Light, in April.
The acoustic stint fills a small gap in Blackberry Smoke’s busy 2019 touring schedule. Later this month, the group will embark on a standard, month-long tour that will take them from California to Mississippi. They’ll hit South America in May and Europe in June, before heading back to the States for a July of amphitheater gigs across the Midwest, South and East Coast.
With a prolific studio output and a regular presence on the road, Blackberry Smoke have consistently grown their audience over their nearly-two-decade career. They shared a bill with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Jason Aldean and The Charlie Daniels Band at last September’s blowout concert in Jacksonville — which sold 40,003 tickets for a gross of $3.52 million — and have served as support for acts including Eric Church, Gov’t Mule and ZZ Top.
And they’ve hit some of the rooms booked for The Break It Down Tour before. The last time they stopped by Victory Theatre, in Evansville, Indiana, Blackberry Smoke sold 912 tickets for a gross of $22,264; when they hit the Kalamazoo State Theatre, in Kalamazoo Michigan, in January 2017, the group sold 1,102 tickets for a gross of $35,370.
“I always say an ounce of exposure is worth a pound of success for these guys because, really, anytime they get in front of an audience it just multiplies,” manager Trey Wilson told Pollstar in 2012. “They’re going to see there’s an artist out there doing something new and special with Southern Rock, Southern music, or however you want to say it.”
