Germany: No Rockavaria in 2019
DEAG’s Rockavaria Festival is taking another break next year, citing a construction site at the festival’s location in Munich as the reason.
The building works are being carried out around the area that hosted Rockavaria’s second stage this year, when the festival took place at Munich’s Königsplatz for the first time.
It already took a break in 2017, because of a lack in artist availability.
This year’s edition was headlined by Iron Maiden and Limp Bizkit, with Dragonforce, Arch Enemy, Royal Republic, Eluveitie, and more completing the lineup on June 9-10.
German rock icons Die Toten Hosen were originally scheduled to headline on Sunday, however, lead singer Campino suffered from a sudden hearing loss and couldn’t perform. DEAG sold 35,000 tickets for Rockavaria 2018.
The promoter is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Pollstar spoke with company founder and CEO Peter Schwenkow about this milestone.
