Andrea Bocelli Dethrones Drake Atop Elite 100

Opera giant Andrea Bocelli flexed his record-sales muscles and pushed Drake out of the No. 1 slot on the Elite 100 Artists chart for the week ending Nov. 1.

Bocelli accomplished his impressive feat with a whopping 92,500 album sales, leagues ahead of the next closest entry in that category (Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper with 37,900). The singer didn’t stream much at all (2.8 million on-demand streams on the week) or sell many songs (6,900), but moving that many albums, most of which are his new project Si, got him to No. 1, with 95,000 total album units.

Bocelli has a full tour of North America coming up, starting with Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City Nov. 29. Bocelli’s upcoming dates in the U.S. include a two-night stand at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York Dec. 12-13 and stretch into 2019.

Drake, on the other hand, led the chart in streams, with 130.7 million. Combine that with his 1,600 album sales and 28,600 song sales and he racked up 91,600 album units on the week. Drizzy is soon wrapping his “Aubrey and the Three Amigos” tour with Migos. He has a performance coming up at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., Nov. 11 and will close the tour with a three-night stand at State Farm Arena in Migos’ home market of Atlanta.

Tory Lanez is another new entry on the chart, hitting No. 8 with a total of 53,000 album units. Lanez released his new album Love Me Now Oct. 26 and his strongest metric by far was streams, with 70.3 million on the week.

Lanez is a client of the management arm of ScoreMore Shows, which recently saw its promotion business acquired by Live Nation. Its management remains independent. Tory Lanez toured Europe this spring after an 86-date North American tour that saw him in many clubs, often taking two nights.

Two young bucks that appear to be on the chart to stay are Juice WRLD and Lil Baby.

Juice WRLD came in at the No. 13 spot as a solo artist and No. 14 for his collaborative album with Future. Those two entries combine for a total of 66,100 album units, which would be at No. 3 on the chart.

Immediately behind those two Juice WRLD spots is Lil Baby, with 32,000 album units to No. 15. His strongest metric was 46.6 million streams.

Artists scheduled to release projects this week include Imagine Dragons, Trippie Redd, Jeff Goldblum, J Mascis, Hanson, Muse, Steve Aoki, Olly Murs, Cupcakke, Architects, Mark Knopfler, and Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers and posthumous releases from Lil Peep and Charles Bradley.

Also, next week’s charts will include projects from John Legend, Lukas Graham, Ty Segall, The Struts, Ty Dolla $ign and Jeremih, Black Eyed Peas, Mick Jenkins, and Robyn.
