A$AP Rocky Tends To North America’s ‘Injured Generation’
Josh Withers – A$AP Rocky
plays the relocated Treasure Island Music Festival in Oakland Oct. 13.
A$AP Rocky is taking on a full headline tour in early 2019, with more than a month of dates mixing arenas, large clubs, and theaters.
The tour runs from Jan. 8 in Minneapolis to Feb. 6 in Kent, Wash. The majority of the routing is arenas, including the Forum in Inglewood, Ca., Jan. 31; NRG Arena in Houston, Jan. 26; and Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., Jan. 18. Some of the smaller venues on the routing include the 9,500-capacity
A special A$AP Rocky’s fan presale and an American Express cardholders presale begin on Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. and noon local times, respectively. Tickets go on sale to the general public Nov. 2 at 12 p.m. local time.
Rocky is hyping tunes off his recent album, TESTING, which boasts more than 1 billion streams since its release.
It’s been awhile since A$AP Rocky did a proper solo tour, though he did ramble with A$AP Mob last year, and multiple shows on that run grossed more than $100,000. His last headline reports submitted were from Australia and New Zealand, where he grossed more than $300,000 in some markets.
The last U.S. headline date reported by A$AP Rocky was Jan. 5, 2016, at Terminal 5 in New York, with a gross of $127,125 off 2,825 tickets at $45-a-pop, though that show was in his home market and did have an incredible supporting cast of Lil Uzi Vert, Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies and the A$AP Mob.
Hip-hop definitely seems to be a genre on the rise, as artists like Post Malone and Travis Scott are making the jump to arenas. Those artists are also hosting their own festivals this year, so who knows if A$AP Rocky will decide to do the same.
