Live Nation Gaiety And SJM Acquire Camp Bestival In The UK
The future of Camp Bestival is secured. Live Nation Gaiety and SJM have acquired an undisclosed stake in the event, which takes place on the grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset.
The family-friendly sister event to the Bestival main event had been struggling financially and announced that it was in search of financial backers last month.
Shortly after, the Sunday Times reported that UK Investor James Benamor, who controlled some of the festival’s assets since loaning it money in 2017, threatened to put the Bestival Group, Bestival Ltd and Camp Bestival into administration.
He later made an offer to purchase Camp Bestival for £1.1 million. According to the BBC, the sale to Richmond Group had already been completed, and Live Nation Gaiety and SJM took over the stake.
