Party At The Polls: WME/Endeavor Bringing Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, More

WME and Endeavor Impact are presenting a concert and voter turnout rally Oct. 20 at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, from 10-11 a.m. CT featuring performances from Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, Jonathan McReynolds, Lucie Silvas, Gabriel Kelly and others.
The performance will be followed by a 1/2 mile march to the Howard Office Building polling location for early voting.  Election day for the federal and state general election is Nov. 6.
“Who we vote for matters yet large groups of millennials and people of color do note vote,” the announcement states. “Regardless of what your most important issue is: sensible gun laws, women’s health, the environment, the economy, social security, foreign policy, freedom of speech or any other issue, the people we elect impact the issue.”
The announcement notes the 2016 election saw 54.9% voter turnout in Tennessee, while the midterm election say 28.5 percent, the lowest in the U.S.  In 2018, the state ranked 40th in voter registration and 50th in voter turnout.
Things appear to be heating up in the state for election season, as Taylor Swift, who has historically been mum about politics and current events, recently called for action with a lengthy Instagram post endorsing Tennessee Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Phil Bresden, and against Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn, whose voting record Swift said “appalls and terrifies me.”
Swift got public support from Ellen DeGeneres and actor Mark Hamill, while Republican politician Mike Huckabee dismissed Swift’s impact by saying her fans (“13-year-old girls”) are too young to vote.
