Amy Winehouse Next to Get Hologram Treatment
– Amy Winehouse
Look for Amy Winehouse as the next superstar to get the hologram tour treatment from BASE Entertainment’s BASE Hologram, which has produced shows featuring Roy Orbison, Maria Callas and dinosaur expert Jack Horner.
The worldwide tour will take place in fall of 2019, with the goal of raising funds and awareness for The Amy Winehouse Foundation.
The company, whose chairman/CEO Brian Becker is a former head of SFX and Clear Channel Entertainment, announced the partnership with the estate of Winehouse. The concert will feature, as the Orbison and Callas shows, digitally remastered arrangements of her hits, backed with a live band, back-up singers and a full stage backdrop.
Commented Becker, “We look forward to continuing new creative and emotional opportunities with Amy Winehouse. She was a powerhouse in every sense of the word. She played by her own rules, pioneered her own sense of style of music and because of that we know she is the perfect person to headline this type of project.”
Winehouse, who passed away in July, 2011 from alcohol intoxication, is the first British singer to have won five Grammy awards and at the time tied with Beyoncé Knowles for the most Grammy wins in one night by a female artist.
“This is a dream for us,” said Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, himself a controversial figure who was portrayed in an unfavorable light in the acclaimed, Oscar-winning 2015 documentary. “To see her perform again is something special that really can’t be put into words. Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way.”
The tour was announced by Winehouse and BASE Hologram CEO of Productions Marty Tudor at the Amy Winehouse Foundation’s annual gala in London. The Foundation works “to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people by supporting, informing and inspiring them to help them reach their full potential.”
The Winehouse family and BASE Hologram will announce plans to incorporate fundraising and awareness campaign for The Amy Winehouse Foundation in concert with the worldwide tour.
“Amy was an extraordinary individual who had an unbelievable passion for both her music and her fans,” said Tudor. “This tour will tap into that devotion and remind people of her amazing voice and all of her contributions to the world of music. In addition, we are proud to be a part of contributing to the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Amy’s legacy of commitment to others in need.”
