KIN: New UK Festival In Bristol By The Makers Of Shambala

The makers of England’s renowned Shambala Festival are launching a new festival by the name of KIN. The premiere takes place Nov. 8-11 at the Arnolfini in Bristol.

The organizes describe KIN as a “series of talks, workshops and conversations plus games, art and music – designed to expand minds, warm souls and create change.”

Film premieres, album launches as well as talks and discussions, many of them politically motivated, are part of the offering. “Against a backdrop of Trump and Brexit, there has been a rise in interest in political workshops and talks,” the festival announcement reads.

“This even will further cater to the increasing demand. As nations flounder and big business get bigger, KIN is a gathering for those longing for a kinder world,” the annoucement continues.

Event co-founder Sidharth Sharma said: “We’re offering the opportunity to reflect on how we could live differently but through a prism of art, creativity and fun – the opposite of a dry and dull political party conference! And Bristol being such a hot bed of social justice and environmental activism is the perfect place to launch it.”

The Arnolfini is Bristol’s contemporary arts center. Other organizations partnering for the premiere of KIN include activist network The Rules, University of West of England, Rife Magazine, Pervasive Media Studios, The Museum of Happiness and Bristol Psychedelic Society.

Music will be coming from acts including Haili Mergia, BBC DJ Tom Ravenscroft, the Honey Hahs, Eliza and Martin Carthy, and Grrrl. Bristol icon DJ Krust will launch his new album at KIN.
