Mike Shinoda is headed out on the road in October as the headliner of the latest installment of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour as he supports his debut solo album. The outing marks the first full-fledged North American solo tour for the Linkin Park co-founder, vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist.
Shinoda’s debut, Post Traumatic, was released in June and features the three tracks from his January EP of the same name that he wrote to process his grief after the death of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington.
Bennington died in July 2017, a few days before the North American leg of Linkin Park’s “One More Light World Tour” was supposed to kick off at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass.
Shinoda has played a handful of dates this year including an appearance at KROQ Weenie Roast. He takes the stage in Hong Kong, China, tonight, and Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, followed by festival gigs in Japan and Europe.
The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour kicks off Oct. 10 in Montreal, Quebec, at MTELUS and runs through mid-November, wrapping with a Nov. 17 gig at The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, Md.
Along with showing off his new tunes Shinoda will be bringing along the art pieces he created while writing and recording Post Traumatic.
“Listening to a recorded song is not the same as experiencing that song live on stage,” Shinoda said in a statement. “Similarly, seeing a painting in an album or book is not the same as seeing the original, in person. In sharing a live experience with you, my hope is to inspire questions, answers, and reflection – not only about my story, but about your own. The search for meaning is boundless, and art is often one of our best vehicles.”
An artist/fan club presales begins Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by a Citi cardmember presale that starts at 12 p.m. local. Spotify, Ticketmaster and Live Nation are also hosting presales that start Thursday, Aug. 9. The general onsale starts Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m.
