In the middle of a meteoric rise, Cardi B has decided to pump the brakes, stepping away from her opening spot on Bruno Mars’ upcoming fall tour.
“As of today I’ve decided I won’t be joining Bruno on tour this Fall,” Cardi wrote on her Instagram yesterday. “I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically.
“I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.
“I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby! Thank you Bruno for being so supportive and understanding.”
She was scheduled to join Bruno starting Sept. 7 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, and would have run with him until October. Those dates is still scheduled to go ahead.
Bruno started his three-night residency at Park Theater At Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday, and continues tonight. Those dates were also supposed to include Bardi, but those arrangements fell through due to her pregnancy.
A recent Hotstar, Cardi B has been ascendant in the past year, getting serious exposure with her smash hit “Bodak Yellow,” followed by several more radio wins with her remix of Mars’ “Finesse,” her feature on “MotorSport” by Migos, and “I Like It” off her latest album Invasion Of Privacy.
She gets plenty of love in New York, but outside of her hometown she has mostly stuck to festivals, the most recent of which were Broccoli City in Washington, D.C., and Coachella in April.
