Denver’s Summit Music Hall Closing For Major Renovations; Will Increase Capacity

Live Nation Clubs & Theaters has announced Denver’s Summit Music Hall, which it acquired in February, will undergo significant renovations and upgrades over the summer, closing June 21 through early September.

Along with Summit, the adjacent Marquis Theater will close July 2 through Aug. 12 while improvements are made, according to a Live Nation statement.  However, the beloved Marquis Pizza will continue to serve pizza without interruption.

Improvements to the Summit include increased capacity to 1,350 from its current 1,000, an upgraded sound system, new and expanded restrooms, improved sightlines and new artist dressing rooms among other cosmetic upgrades.
STS9 kicks off the venue’s reopening with an underplay gig Sept. 6, the night before back-to-back shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in nearby Morrison, Colo.

Other upcoming shows at Summit Music Hall include E-40, Against Me!, Lily Allen, Lil Xan, Thrice, and Stones Throw Feat. Mayer Hawthorne.

Tickets to most shows go on sale June 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

Recent shows reported to Pollstar from the Summit include The Jesus And Mary Chain Nov. 3 (647 tickets, $19,073 grossed), Hanson Oct. 14 (1,100 tickets, $42,900) and Andrew W.K., who sold 428 tickets and grossed $8,507 from his Sept. 21 show at the venue.

Live Nation Clubs & Theaters promotes nearly 15,000 shows in over 100 venues across the United States including close to 600 shows in the Denver area, according to the announcement.
