A Perfect Circle has more shows planned for the U.S. and Europe.  The Maynard James Keenan-fronted band has an October-November run beginning in Salt Lake City and a December outing kicking off in Glasgow, Scotland.

The new dates are in addition to the band’s May through early July expedition that includes places like the “Northern Invasion’ fest in Somerset, Wis., May 12 and Northside Festival in Denmark June 8.

Up until last week, A Perfect Circle hadn’t released a studio album since 2004’s Emotive. But that changed April 20 when the band issued Eat The Elephant via BMG.  We’ll save you the basic arithmetic by saying 14 years between albums isn’t exactly the norm today.  That is, unless you’re Axl Rose.

But you really can’t blame the band for dragging its heels in the recording studio.  After all, Keenan still has Tool keeping him busy, as does Puscifer, and there are only soooo many days in a year. Or a decade, for that matter.

But A Perfect Circle releasing its fourth album in 14 years does give fans a chance to see how members have matured since 2004.

Writing that “listeners will find a stripped down” band on Eat The Elephant, Loudwire’s Graham Hartman described the effort as sounding “more like Puscifer than A Perfect Circle,” but he also praised the album as having “plenty of depth to unpack through dozens of listens.”  Meanwhile, Rolling Stone appraised the disc as “a moody, sensitive portrait of a band that decided to grow up and make a record that reflects where they are now as artists rather than trying to recapture the past.”

The newly announced U.S. dates begin Oct. 20 at Salt Lake City’s Maverik Center and conclude with a Nov. 20 gig at Phoenix’s Comerica Theatre.  A Perfect Circle’s winter run through Europe commences Dec. 2 at Scotland’s O2 Academy Glasgow and wraps Dec. 19 at Rome’s Palalottomatica.

Data submitted to Pollstar for A Perfect Circle’s 2017 North America tour paints a boxoffice picture ranging from half-filled venues to sold-out shows.  The band’s Nov. 30 concert at P.N.E. Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, moved 4,185 out tickets out of 10,000 available for a total gross of $252,817 ($325,284 Canadian).  One of the band’s sold-out concerts took place May 3 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena where fans purchased all 8,479 tickets available and the night’s gross reached $455,184.
