Songkick Makes Moves After WMG Buyout
Songkick has finalized a partnership with Facebook and is teaming up with European ticket seller FNAC. The concert-discovery app was acquired by Warner Music Group last summer.
The deal with Facebook follows other integrations with platforms like AXS, Ticketmaster and Eventbrite. The move to work with FNAC, as reported by Billboard, will strengthen Songkick in France and Belgium, where FNAC claims it is the largest ticket seller in the market.
“We have tapped into Warner’s global infrastructure and existing fan base to accelerate growth and solidify Songkick’s status as the best concert discovery tool in the market,” Tony Harlow, president of Warner’s artist and label services division in a statement to Billboard. “We know that Songkick users are highly engaged passionate music fans and we strive to provide them more content, access, and rewards for their enthusiasm.”
WMG’s July 2017 deal to acquire Songkick’s concert-discovery business left the ticketing service alone while the company was in a legal battle with Live Nation. The ticketing service shuttered Oct. 31 and the legal dispute ended with Live Nation acquiring the remaining Songkick assets for $110 million.
