The Smashing Pumpkins To Tour With Three Original Members
Debi Del Grande – Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins
Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, Irvine, Calif.
Today is the greatest day The Smashing Pumpkins fans have ever known! Three of the original four members of the band are reuniting for their first full tour since 2000.
The three members on the trek are Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha, but original bassist D’arcy Wretzky is still sitting this one out. Pollstar received a statement on the matter from a SP spokesperson earlier in the week stating: “James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and William Corgan haven’t played a show with D’arcy Wretzky for over 18 years. But it’s not for a lack of trying. For despite reports, Ms. Wretzky has repeatedly been invited out to play with the group, participate in demo sessions, or at the very least, meet face-to-face, and in each and every instance she always deferred.”
The Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour will kick off July 12 in Glendale, Ariz.’s Gila River Arena and continues for nearly two months, wrapping Sept. 7 in Boise, Idaho.
Venues along the way are virtually all arenas, including destinations spots like Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Madison Square Garden Arena in New York, the new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and
Tickets go on sale to the general public Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.
Smashing Pumpkins did tour with a different lineup and Liz Phair supporting in 2016 with some decent numbers. A highlight that year was a three-show run at Beacon Theatre in New York with 7,832 tickets moved and $540,863 grossed. The Smashing Pumpkins also toured with Marilyn Manson in 2015.
