Fall Out Boy Announces ‘M A N I A’ Tour Dates
In addition to releasing its seventh studio album today, Fall Out Boy just rolled out the itinerary for a North American late summer/fall tour.
By the time Fall Out’s PR rep had sent out press about the tour, M A N I A had already hit No. 1 on iTunes in 30 countries, including the U.S., Australia, Canada and France. The album is the follow-up to 2015’s American Beauty/American Psycho.
Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz and the rest of the guys will be showing off the new tunes on a U.S. tour that launches Aug. 29 in Uniondale, N.Y., at NYCB Live home of The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Fall Out Boy is playing gigs at arenas across the country, including Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.; Bridgestone Arena in Nashville; Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.; Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.; MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas; Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.; and Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho.
The band has also lined up shows at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pa., and a special hometown concert at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
“I grew up going to games with my dad at Wrigley,” Wentz said in a statement. “This stadium contains so much magic from being a kid … I can’t think of somewhere closer to me to come home and play a show at in Chicago.”
The Sept. 8 show marks Fall Out Boy’s first headline show at Wrigley. The band previously sang “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” in September when the Cubs hosted the St. Louis Cardinals and performed at MLB’s first-ever live musical performance on Opening Night in 2015.
Special guest Machine Gun Kelly is accompanying Fall Out Boy on every show of the 28-date excursion. Gym Class Heroes, Every Time I Die, Against The Current, State Champs, L.I.F.T., and nothing, nowhere will appear on select dates to be announced.
An American Express card member presale is scheduled Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. through Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. All times local. The band is donating $1 from every ticket sold to the Fall Out Boy Fund, benefiting charities throughout the Windy City.
The band also posted a new music video today for the track “Church,” directed by Daveion Thompson.
Sold-out shows in 2017 include Brooklyn’s 12,140-capacity Barclays Center, Toronto’s 8,614-cap Air Canada Centre and Oakland’s 7,262-cap Oracle Arena, according to box office reports submitted to Pollstar.
