Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium, once notorious for long lines, received upgrades to its entrances, bathrooms and backstage area.
Live Nation, which operates and manages the 3,600-capacity venue, decided to renovate the facility to deal with extremely long entrance and bathroom lines.
The old bathrooms, most of which were located behind the stage, were relocated to the basement for easier access, according to 303 Magazine. The amount of entrances was doubled from eight to 16.
“The new bathroom was a long time coming,” Eric Pirritt, Live Nation Colorado President, told 303 Magazine. “Honestly, it was counter intuitive to send people behind the stage to use a restroom. We finally said, ‘Lets figure this out.’ It’s an amazing upgrade for the fans. We couldn’t be happier with the response.”
Improvements were also made to the artist dressing rooms and green room areas. Pirritt told the magazine that the amount of space backstage was tripled, in addition to adding more dressing rooms, showers, a full kitchen and a dinning area with enough room for up to 40 artists and crew.
The venue’s sound system received upgrades as well.
“With the help of Colorado’s own Brown Note Productions we’ve installed a new d&b sound system known as The J-series this month. Without getting overly technical, it’s considered to be the best system in the world,” he said. “Along with the new PA system, fans will also enjoy the immersive delay system now in place throughout the Fillmore.”
The facility, once a factory for World War II and an automobile company, opened as the Fillmore Auditorium about 20 years ago. Since then, it has hosted performances from Lorde to Chris Stapleton. In 2017 alone, the venue booked 72 shows, including sold-out concerts by Run The Jewels and Sting. The facility sells an average of 3,080 tickets each performance, according to Pollstar’s box office reports.
