Khalid
R&B upstart Khalid has a full North American routing, with theaters, amphitheatres and even some arenas.
This headline is taking Khalid into bigger rooms than his last run through North America earlier this year. He was recently opening for Lorde in Europe and ran through Australia and New Zealand this month.
The first North American headline show is at New York’s Radio City Music Hall Jan. 27 but the tour gets underway in earnest May 1 in Portland, Ore. The run continues for more than a month, wrapping up June 7 in Raleigh, N.C. Notable venues include Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo.; Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, Texas, and Rawhide Event Center in Chandler, Ariz.
A presale for tickets is on now, and the general onsale begins Dec. 2.
Khalid has a bunch of Grammy nominations to his name: Song Of The Year and Best Music Video for his appearance on Logic’s “1-800-273-8255”; Best R&B Song for “Location”; and Best Urban Contemporary Album for American Teen.
The next place you can catch Khalid is at Red Bull Sound Select Presents at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom Nov. 29, followed by a number of holiday festival appearances. He also has a European solo run planned through February.
The 19-year-old Khalid is doing some seriously big business already in his career. He sold out Moore Park, Australia’s Hordern Pavilion for two nights Nov. 7-8, grossing a reported $502,652 and moving 10,872 reported tickets.
