The diva is out! Mariah Carey let her fans know that she has been “gifted” with an upper respiratory infection this holiday season and she is cancelling six upcoming November shows. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
Mariah posted on Instagram yesterday that she got the infection after dealing with the flu last week and now has to rest on doctor’s orders.
The first canceled show would have been tomorrow at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario. She also nixed dates in Chicago; Niagara Falls, N.Y; Northfield, Ohio; Oxon Hill, Md.; and Atlantic City, N.J.
Her next scheduled performance is the first in a residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre, Nov. 27. She plays six shows at the Beacon, before hopping across the pond for single shows at AccorHotels Arena in Paris Dec. 9; Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, Dec. 10; and at London’s The O2 Dec. 11.
She also has five nights planned at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and then heads Down Under for a run in Australia and New Zealand.
Mariah has had a run of unfortunate luck in the past few years. She had to cancel a full run in South America last year, citing problems with promoters. She ended up filing suit against those promoters in January of this year, claiming “not one payment promised … [was] made as required.”
She also had to reschedule her “All The Hits” dates with Lionel Richie after the crooner had knee surgery.
Then there was her unfortunate New Year’s Eve performance in 2016. Her team basically blasted Dick Clark Productions, who put on the show, after the incident.
