Worker Dies In Fall At Big Sandy Superstore Arena
An events worker died from a fall while working to set up a “Kidz Bop Live” show at 7,200-capacity Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, W.Va., Nov. 2.
Tom McCormick, 59, reportedly fell about five feet off a stage and struck his head on the concrete floor. He died of his injuries Nov. 4, according to WSAZ-TV.
SMG Huntington called McCormick “a beloved and respected member of the International Alliance of Stage & Theatrical Employees and a long-term SMG employee,” in a statement. “Speaking for the entire SMG family, we wish to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Tom’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
