Chiemsee Summer Takes Break In 2018
Chiemsee Summer, the German festival that was interrupted by bad weather this year, won’t happen in 2018, with organisers citing the financial burden of refunds.

This year’s event took place Aug. 16-19 in Bavaria, Germany.
The severe storms in Bavaria this summer disrupted a lot of events, of which Chiemsee Summer, alongside Highfield Festival, was the most popular. The festival had to be evacuated on the Friday.
With many tents estroyed in the storm, organizers guided visitors to emergency shelters in town. The festival’s main structures were damaged so heavily that the entire Saturday had to be scrapped.
Promoters FKP Scorpio and CRP Konzertagentur have always maintained that visitors would be refunded.
“It is not least due to this [financial burden] that we had to heavy-heartedly decide to take a break with Chiemsee Summer in 2018, before making a new start in 2019,” a statement on the festival’s Facebook page reads.
“We want to make use of this break to advise on how we can make the festival economically sustainable again.”
