Tom Petty Manager: ‘Devastated’

Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager for Tom Petty, said “we are devastated to announce the untimely death” of the rock superstar, who died Oct. 2 of cardiac arrest.

“On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty,” Dimitriades said in an Oct. 2 statement. “He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived.

“He died peacefully at 8:40pm PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”

Tom Petty had just completed a 40th anniversary tour, which according to Pollstar data grossed more than $70 million with nearly 1 million tickets sold from headline dates alone.
