What Was Route 91 Harvest?
The Route 91 Harvest festival that was the target of a mass shooting that killed at least 58 and injured more than 500 was a staple country music event in Las Vegas for the last four years.

The 15-acre entertainment, sports and festival venue is directly across the street from the Luxor Hotel & Casino and Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and consists of mostly flat, empty land when a festival is not set up. The Village, which was formerly known as the Luxor Festival Grounds, also hosted iHeartRadio Music Festival, ACM Party For A Cause and Rock N’ Roll Marathon events last year and the iHeartRadio Daytime Village this year.
Route 91 was started by Brian O’Connell, President of Live Nation – Nashville, who oversees all of Live Nation’s country music festivals. Pollstar reached out to O’Connell for comment, but he was unavailable at press time.
Route 91 Harvest is included with Live Nation’s festival passport, along with its other country festivals like Faster Horses, Country LakeShake and Watershed festivals in Michigan, Illinois and Washington respectively. The event had a ton of sponsors including SiriusXM, Budweiser and Coca-Cola, meaning it was likely poised to be a big moneymaker, though because the attack occurred before Aldean’s set was finished, business was presumably not settled.
