Valerie June Floats ‘Astral Plane’ Dates
Americana darling Valerie June heads to North American clubs and theatres next year after a 2017 that will still see her in Australia and Japan.

Valerie June plays Farm Aid at KeyBank Pavilion in Burgettstown, Pa., Sept. 16.
June’s new run of dates starts in Northampton, Mass., Feb. 6 and runs for a few weeks, ending in Ithaca, N.Y. The routing mostly sticks to the regional Northeast and Midwest.

The songstress’s next few gigs are in Australia, followed by two appearances at Austin City Limits Music Festival Oct. 6 and 13. There are plays in Japan and Hawaii in November, and West Coast run after that.
Originally from Tennessee, June grew up singing in church and told InStyle magazine it took time to incorporate her many influences.
“It’s a good thing my church didn’t have a choir, because I probably never would’ve been accepted—my voice was so wild; it didn’t fit in anywhere. I jump around. I don’t really sing in a structured, tamed way,” she said.
She was recently shouted out by Bob Dylan in one of the legendary songwriter’s rare interviews. June told Rolling Stone of that interview, “I never went to college, so I felt like when he mentioned my name, I got my degree that day.”
The folk-soul singer has been busy this year, as she released the full LP The Order Of Time early on and followed it with Live At KCRW last month.
Valerie June is averaging 380 tickets per show, most of which are priced below $30. Her average gross per show is $8,066.
