Changes: Lady Gaga, Donald Fagen & More

Lady Gaga has had to back out of Rock in Rio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, because she is “in severe pain.”

The pop star was supposed to perform Sept. 15. Instead, Maroon 5 will take her place and play both Sept. 15 and 16.

“Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough 2 come to Rock In Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now,” Gaga tweeted. “I ask for your grace and understanding, and promise that I will come back and perform for you soon. I was taken to the hospital its not simply hip pain or wear & tear from tour, I’m in severe pain. I’m in good hands w/ the very best doctors.”

A few days earlier she had tweeted that Fibromyalgia was giving her trouble and that she had made it worse with ice, when “warm/heat is better.”

Gaga will discuss her struggles with chronic pain in the documentary “Five Foot Two,” which will be available on Netflix on Sept. 22.

2 Chainz has canceled the following Florida appearances because of Hurricane Irma: Sept. 15 at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Sept. 16 at Venue 578 in Orlando and Sept. 17 at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater.

A post on The Fillmore’s Facebook page notes that refunds are available at point of purchase. Internet and phone orders will be automatically canceled and refunded.

Speaking of Jannus Live, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley has announced a rescheduled date for his appearance at the venue. We previously announced that his Sept. 13 gig was postponed because of the hurricane. He’s now set to play St. Petersburg on Oct. 29.

You can blame Hurricane Harvey for canceling Houston Open Air.

Festival organizers released the following statement: “Due to unforeseen and ongoing circumstances as well as continuous relief efforts needed to help stabilize Houston and its surrounding areas, we are canceling Houston Open Air. All tickets purchased online or by phone through Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically. Please allow up to three weeks for the refund to be processed. The Sept. 14-15 event in The Woodlands, Texas, was supposed to feature Five Finger Death Punch, Avenged Sevenfold, Marilyn Manson and more.

After canceling the remaining U.S. dates on his tour with his new solo band, The Nightflyers, Donald Fagen has also nixed his appearances at Blue Note Jazz Festival in Yokohama, Japan.

A translated message on the festival’s website said that the Sept. 23-24 event has been canceled altogether: “Donald Fagen & The Nightflyers” canceled their appearance in Japan and the festival due to sudden illness of Mr. Donald Fagen. … As a result we decided to stop holding this festival. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to our customers who are looking forward to this festival.”

The festival was also supposed to feature Kamasi Washington, Gregory Porter, Lianne La Havas, Chris Dave & The Drumhedz and more.

Finally, The Libertines’ Sept. 22 gig at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England, has been pushed back to Dec. 14.

The band tweeted a statement from the venue that explained the show is postponed because of “essential maintenance works at the venue. … Original tickets will be valid for the rearranged date. The venue are sorry for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the band and their fans for their cooperation and understanding.”
