John Carpenter Touring Movie Anthology

Noted director and composer John Carpenter, behind sci-fi and horror classics such as “Halloween” and “The Thing,” is releasing a collection of newly recorded themes and is hitting the road in support, playing theatres in select markets from late October into November.

Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 includes 13 of Carpenter’s classic movie themes from films such as “Assault on Precinct 13,” “Halloween,” “Escape From New York” and “Big Trouble In Little China,” and also covers Ennio Morricone’s minimalist theme to “The Thing,” which Carpenter directed.

Dates kick off at The Joint at Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas Oct. 29. From there it’ll hit venues and markets such as the Hollywood Palladium, The Warfield in San Francisco, the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Metropolis in Montreal, Terminal 5 in New York City and ends Nov. 19 at The Palace Theatre in Syracuse, N.Y.

With the announcement, Carpenter has shared the new recording of the theme to 1994’s “In The Mouth of Madness,” which was inspired by Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.”

“My friend Dave Davies played lead guitar, and now, over 20 years later, his son Daniel is playing the lead. One of my favorite themes,” Carpenter said in the announcement. The album drops Oct. 20.

The tour will feature music from Carpenter’s films as well as material from his last two Lost Themes albums.

This tour follows a string of sold-out concert dates in 2016, which featured Carpenter on synth duties with a band for very much a rock-show setting.

Of the box office reports submitted to Pollstar, Carpenter sold an average 1,350 tickets per night.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. local time. Metropolis.
