MSG’s first foray into esports was in 2015, when the flagship NYC venue hosted the North American League of Legends summer finals of its Championship Series, which was ultimately won by CLG.
“The sport now stands on the verge of enormous change, which we believe has the potential to generate significant growth,” David O’Connor, President and CEO of The Madison Square Garden Company said on a statement. “We are thrilled to be taking this next step with CLG … and we look forward to collaborating with these influential trailblazers to build their brand in New York.”
