Dio Hologram Takes Center Stage
Rock music icon Ronnie James Dio is set to return to the stage in hologram form as he and his compadres from the DIO band are scheduled to trot the globe for a lengthy tour.

Dio died in 2010 of metastasized stomach cancer, but his music lives on in recorded form! The hologram technology will use Dio’s actual vocals with a holographic projection of his likeness, while Craig Goldy plays guitar, Simon Wright holds down drums, Scott Warren plays the keys and Bjorn Englen plucks the bass. Singers Tim Ripper Owens and Oni Logan will also appear on select dates.
The company behind the production is Eyellusion, which unveiled the Dio hologram’s live set at this year’s Pollstar Awards. Check out a clip from that performance.
The setlist will include material from throughout his career, including songs like “We Rock,” “Holy Diver,” and “Heaven & Hell.”
“No one has ever been able to put together a show and tour like this and we like to think of Ronnie smiling down as we continue to find new ways to share his music with all generations of fans,” the artist’s wife Wendy Dio said.
