Light Of Day Shines Once More
The Light Of Day Foundation, dedicated to raising money to combat Parkinson’s Disease, ALS and PSP, has announced its Winterfest dates and cities for 2018.
Light Of Day Winterfest is scheduled to take place Jan. 5-15 in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
The first day, Jan. 5, will be celebrated in Montclair, N.J., followed by one day in Philadelphia Jan. 6. After that there is a single day in Asbury Park, N.J., Jan. 7 and a day in New York City Jan. 10. The remaining dates, Jan. 11-15 will then return to Asbury Park.
This year the festival raised more than $500,000 once again, moving it past $4.5 million total over its 17-year history.
There is still no word on the lineup, though Bruce Springsteen is often a fixture at the event, as he has played 11 out of the 17 years it has been around.
The festival is run by the Light of Day Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding research for cures and treatments for Parkinson’s, PSP and ALS. It re-grants money to organizations like the Michael J. Fox Foundation, CurePSP, the Parkinson’s Foundation, and Parkinson’s Unity Walk. The event began as a birthday celebration for famed manager Bob Benjamin, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1996.
Other upcoming Light of Day events include Happy Together 2017 with The Turtles feat. Flo & Eddie, The Association, Chuck Negron, The Box Tops, The Cowsills, and The Archies in Red Bank, N.J., Aug. 5 and the Light of Day Foundation’s Golf Outing Oct. 9 in Neptune, N.J.
