Minnesota MLS Stadium Gets Tax Break
A bill securing property and sales tax breaks for a $150 million stadium in St. Paul, Minn., was signed by the governor May 30.

The 19,600-capacity stadium will hopefully be open by March 2019. Minnesota United FC owner Bill McGuire told the Pioneer Press the venue is “95 percent” designed. Construction is now anticipated to start this summer.

This latest bill, passed through the State Legislature and signed by Gov. Mark Dayton, was the third effort to secure tax breaks for the stadium, which is being funded privately. Previous efforts reportedly stalled due to a location change and a language error.
“We look forward to continuing our efforts to build what we believe will be a world-class, soccer-specific stadium that will serve our team, our fans and our community, and will make everyone in Minnesota proud,” McGuire said in a statement.
