“Following a widely publicised divorce, R&B queen Mary J Blige has chosen a telling title for her latest release: this is not an album that seethes or despairs; rather, it grapples with insecurity and ultimately revels in determined power,” a review from The Guardian’s Tara Joshi proclaims. Joshi adds, “It’s not groundbreaking, but Blige’s vocals alone are a reminder of why she remains so important to the genre.”
Blige closed out 2016 by co-headlining the “King and Queen of Hearts Tour” with Maxwell. So far, her 2017 tour plans have included a handful of gigs in Australia, Japan and the U.S.
She has several festival appearances lined up in the next few months such as Essence in New Orleans, Italy’s Lucca Summer Festival, and the Cincinnati Music Festival.
The North American headline tour begins July 30 at the Chicago Theatre and wraps up Sept. 9 with a show in Oakland, Calif., at the Paramount Theatre.
Cities welcoming Blige include Atlanta, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Dallas and Las Vegas.
Fan club, VIP and Pandora Premium presales start May 17 at 10 a.m. A Citi cardmember presale starts Wednesday, May 17 at 12 p.m. through Citi’s Private Pass program. Tickets go on sale to the general public May 19 at 10 a.m. All times local.
