The shows will feature classical pieces by the likes of Bach, Beethoven, and Shostakovich and tunes from Van Morrison and “West Side Story.” The music will be performed by a chamber trio led by Vogler that also includes Vanessa Perez on piano and Mira Wang on violin. Murray will be reading selections from Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, and Ernest Hemingway, among others.
There are currently seven dates on the books, starting with two in Germany in June.
The first North American performance is July 20, on Day 7 in Yountville, Calif., at Festival Napa Valley.
“In addition to being a fine actor and one of the funniest people on the planet, Bill Murray is a lover of poetry and superior prose,” a description on the Festival Napa Valley website reads. “His passion for both, and his friendship with acclaimed cellist Jan Vogler, led to this singular evening of music and words.”
The rest of the North American dates are in October. Dates to most shows are already on sale now.
A recording of the artists’ works is reportedly on the way in August.
