Gary Clark Jr. Takes On North America

Festival appearances, opening gigs for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, My Morning Jacket, and Eric Clapton, and headline shows are all on the menu for Gary Clark Jr. in 2017. He is taking stages all around North America, to promote a live album named after shows on the same continent last year, ironically.

The first place to catch Clark is as an opener for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in Austin, Texas,  May 2. The MMJ plays are in July and the Clapton stint is in New York and Inglewood, Calif. The LA stops were supposed to be last weekend, but Clapton had bronchitis and suspended the performances on doctor’s orders.
Festival appearances are peppered throughout his plans, including Mountain Jam, RBC Bluesfest, and Hinterland Festival.
Clark’s headline dates start June 13 in Toronto and continue all the way to Sept. 30, though he does have all that other stuff going on in the middle.
The noted blues, rock and soul artist is pushing tunes from his 2016 live album, Live North America 2016. He has been doing TV spots to promote that project. He also got his cover of “Come Together” in the trailer for the upcoming “Justice League” film.
