James is currently on the East Coast, you can catch her tomorrow opening for Chris Botti at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, N.H. She will also have support duties for the trumpeter in Massachusetts and Ohio.
Her “Reckless Abandon” headline run starts in Scranton, Pa., on March 31 and continues for nearly three months throughout the country, ending in Denver, on June 20.
There is a new date at
James released a cover album of Nina Simone songs in 2012 and 2014’s Hunter, which was full of original tunes, through Epic records in 2014. Blue, an album of Joni Mitchell covers, came out through her own label, Certified Morganic, in December, following 2015’s YouTube Sessions EP.
She is currently crowdfunding an album of original tunes, which doesn’t seem to have a title or release date.
The artist rose to prominence through her performances with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox and a few turns on Broadway.
Pollstar was lucky enough to get a visit from James at its Fresno headquarters in 2015 and chatted with the artist about growing up in Modesto and the trajectory of her career.
