The Revolution Adds More Reunion Dates
The Revolution is going to party like it’s 1999 this spring and summer. Prince’s former backing band has extended its initial spring routing to include North American gigs in May, June and July.
Drummer Bobby Z, bassist Brown Mark, guitarist/vocalist Wendy Melvoin, keyboardist/vocalist Lisa Coleman, and keyboardist Dr. Fink reunited on stage in Minneapolis in September for their first performances in several years, brought together once again after the sudden death of Prince last April.
The group, which was active from 1979 to 1986, was featured on Prince’s 1999 and Around the World in a Day, along with the soundtrack albums Purple Rain and Parade.
And now The Revolution is ready to return to the road. The band’s previously announced April gigs begin with an appearance at “Celebration 2017,” which honors the legacy of Prince with a four-day festival at his Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minn. The daily lineup for the April 20-23 event hasn’t been announced yet.
